Players and Parents –
It’s starting to feel like Spring so that means it’s also going to feel like we have baseball everyday. Players – take care of yourselves and stay healthy. Be sure you are getting plenty of sleep and are eating properly. Parents – you will probably need to do the same if you plan on coming to all of the games. We are in it for the long haul now. Below is a recap of the Spring Break Tourney that the JV and Varsity teams participated in last week, a schedule for this week, and some updates and reminders.
Last Week’s Games
The JV team had a pretty good showing in the 2015 SB Tourney. During pool play they beat Lake Shore 9-1, tied Grosse Pointe North 5-5, and lost to Cousino 6-2 and Dakota 5-2. This qualified them for the Silver Bracket Tournament, where they made it to the championship game by beating Richmond 4-3. However, they lost to Grosse Pointe North in that game 4-2. The JV team is now 3-5-1 overall.
The Varsity team didn’t have quite the showing they expected, only winning one game against Warren Mott 2-1. They lost to Dakota, Avondale, and Richmond in pool play to qualify for the Silver Bracket Tournament. In the opening round they lost to Warren Mott 2-1. The Varsity team is now 3-5 overall.

Team pictures are today (JV/Freshmen 4:00, Varsity 4:30) all at Princeton. Order forms will be available at the field and you may place your order AFTER the pictures have been taken if you wish.
I have ordered the first round of sponsor banners for the field. As you get new sponsors, please let me know ASAP so that I can order the proper banner for them so we will be able to advertise their business on our field all season. The sponsorship form is attached to this e-mail.
I have sent texts out to all of the players about summer baseball and as of today we do not have enough interest to get an entire team together. However, there are many players who I know do not have summer teams that I have not heard back from yet. It is an expectation that if you are in the Lakeview Baseball program, you play on a team over the summer. We are trying to set up a 16U team that will play a local league schedule and travel to 2 tournaments. The cost will be minimal compared to most travel programs. If you were on the Dirtbags 16U team last summer and are 17 now or will be 17 by the summer, you will still be allowed to play on this team this summer – I will talk to you individually. IF YOU HAVE INTEREST, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP. I will be making a decision by the end of the week whether we have enough to go forward with a team or not.
Bags will not be allowed to be stored in the Media Center during school for the next 2 weeks. If you need to store your bag somewhere, you can do so on the stage in room 111.
Varsity players – if you are interested in participating in the 2015 Michigan High School Baseball Showcase held in Grosse Pointe, please see me ASAP. More information can be found at www.michiganbaseballshowcase.com
. This is one of the very best showcase events in the state and I would encourage you to participate in it if you are interested in playing baseball in college.
