Players and Parents –

The season is a little over halfway over, but we still have a lot of things to look forward to. Below is a summary of last week, this week’s games and some other updates.
Last Week’s Games
The Varsity team struggled in league play last week, losing three close games to 1st Place Fraser (5-2, 2-1, 7-4). However, they bounced back and beat Lansing Sexton on Friday in a 5-inning mercy, 11-1. The Varsity team is now 2-7 in the MAC Gold and 10-14 overall.
The JV team had a quiet week due to administrative issues at Fraser, dropping their only game to Fraser 3-0. On Saturday, they traveled to Clarkston for a tournament where they beat Troy 10-4 but lost to Clarkston twice 3-1 and 6-5. The JV team is now 4-3 in the MAC Gold and 8-12-1 overall.
The Freshman team also had a quiet week, starting off with a win against L’anse Creuse on Tuesday 8-3. That was followed by a tough loss to Anchor Bay on Thursday and a couple of losses in close games to Taylor Kennedy on Saturday, 8-6 and 4-3. The Freshman team is now 10-8 overall.

Home Run Derby Re-Cap
Thanks again to everyone who came out yesterday to enjoy the 2015 Home Run Derby. We had a great turnout and had a lot of fun in the beautiful weather. Winning names were sent out last night and the players will be getting the winnings to distribute this week. Also a big thank you to everyone who helped out by preparing the food for the crowd – we couldn’t have done it without you!
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with me. Have a great week!

Player and Parents –

Last week wrapped up one of our busiest weeks of the season and overall, we did quite well. This upcoming week slows down a bit and includes the Home Run Derby Fundraiser and Picnic this Sunday at 1:00 for all players and their families. Below are results from last week, this week’s calendar and some updates on a few items.
Last Week’s Games
The Varsity team played great all week, dropping two close games to Lake Shore 3-1 and 11-10 before beating them in the third game 3-2 on a walk-off suicide squeeze in the bottom of the 7th inning. They capped off their week with big wins against East Detroit (15-0) and Livonia Clarenceville (9-0 with John Klimowicz throwing a no-hitter) to make it to the championship game of the Huskies Classic. In a hard fought game, the Varsity team lost the championship to a very good Utica Ford team 4-3. The Varsity team is now 2-4 in the MAC Gold and 9-11 overall.
The JV team had a great week, sweeping Lake Shore in all 3 games that they played quite easily (16-4, 18-3, and 5-2). Thanks to all of the JV players who helped out on their off weekend at the Huskies Classic. The JV team is now 4-2 in the MAC Gold and 7-9-1 overall.
The Freshman team had an up and down week. During the week, they lost to Fraser 11-7 and got beat up by Grosse Pointe South and Grosse Pointe North. However, they bounced back on Saturday at a tournament in Clarkston, beating Clarkston 10-8 and Southfield 9-4 to make it to the championship game, where they beat Ortonville-Brandon 13-8 to take home the championship! The Freshman team is now 9-5 overall.

The First Annual Huskies Classic Tournament
This coming Saturday, we will be hosting the 1st Annual Huskies Classic Varsity Baseball Tournament. Games will be taking place at both the Varsity field at Princeton as well as on Kyte Monroe A. Teams in this years tournament are Lakeview, East Detroit, Livonia Clarenceville, Dearborn Heights Crestwood, Utica Ford, and Temperance-Bedford. Since the JV team is not scheduled to play, we will be using the players to help work at both sites. There will be 2 shifts for the players – some will be working 8:30 am – 12:00 pm and another set will work 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm. I will be meeting with the JV team to go over their work assignments on Friday of this week. If there are any parents who would like to help out with working the gate or prepping fields between games, please let me know ASAP. This will be a nice fundraiser for the baseball program.

Summer Baseball
We have about 10 guys interested in the 16U summer baseball team as of now. If you know of anyone else who may not have a team this summer but is a competitive baseball player, please have them get in contact with me. There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday April 28th at 7:00 pm at the field at Princeton Elementary. Please be sure that a parent attends if you plan on playing.
Home Run Derby Fundraiser and Picnic
The HR Derby is quickly approaching – Sunday May 3rd at 1:00 pm! After today, all players will have an informational sheet as well as a pledge form. Each player is EXPECTED to sell 10 baseballs. If you have any questions on how this works, please refer to the informational sheet. Also included for this year is a picnic for all Lakeview Baseball families. The informational sheet outlines what is expected from each team to bring to contribute to the picnic. The program will purchase the hot dogs, burgers, buns, and condiments. If anyone has a grill that they could bring up to cook on, please let me know ASAP!! Also, I know that someone volunteered to go to Costco/Sams Club to get the meat, however with all that has been going on I forgot who that was. If you would like to volunteer, please let me know. I will get in contact with you regarding details.
Media Center
Just a reminder that you cannot store your bags in the Media Center this week. If you need to store your bag somewhere during the school day, you can do so on the stage in room 111.
If you have any questions, let me know.

Players and Parents –

It’s starting to feel like Spring so that means it’s also going to feel like we have baseball everyday. Players – take care of yourselves and stay healthy. Be sure you are getting plenty of sleep and are eating properly. Parents – you will probably need to do the same if you plan on coming to all of the games. We are in it for the long haul now. Below is a recap of the Spring Break Tourney that the JV and Varsity teams participated in last week, a schedule for this week, and some updates and reminders.
Last Week’s Games
The JV team had a pretty good showing in the 2015 SB Tourney. During pool play they beat Lake Shore 9-1, tied Grosse Pointe North 5-5, and lost to Cousino 6-2 and Dakota 5-2. This qualified them for the Silver Bracket Tournament, where they made it to the championship game by beating Richmond 4-3. However, they lost to Grosse Pointe North in that game 4-2. The JV team is now 3-5-1 overall.
The Varsity team didn’t have quite the showing they expected, only winning one game against Warren Mott 2-1. They lost to Dakota, Avondale, and Richmond in pool play to qualify for the Silver Bracket Tournament. In the opening round they lost to Warren Mott 2-1. The Varsity team is now 3-5 overall.

Spirit Wear
There was an e-mail that went out over the weekend regarding Spirit Wear. All items are now available to be purchased online by going to www.requiredteamgear.com. You will either need to create an account or login using the information you provided last year if you purchased anything then. The team code to use is 156236. The store will only be open through Sunday 4/19!

Pictures
Team pictures are today (JV/Freshmen 4:00, Varsity 4:30) all at Princeton. Order forms will be available at the field and you may place your order AFTER the pictures have been taken if you wish.
Sponsors
I have ordered the first round of sponsor banners for the field. As you get new sponsors, please let me know ASAP so that I can order the proper banner for them so we will be able to advertise their business on our field all season. The sponsorship form is attached to this e-mail.
Summer Baseball
I have sent texts out to all of the players about summer baseball and as of today we do not have enough interest to get an entire team together. However, there are many players who I know do not have summer teams that I have not heard back from yet. It is an expectation that if you are in the Lakeview Baseball program, you play on a team over the summer. We are trying to set up a 16U team that will play a local league schedule and travel to 2 tournaments. The cost will be minimal compared to most travel programs. If you were on the Dirtbags 16U team last summer and are 17 now or will be 17 by the summer, you will still be allowed to play on this team this summer – I will talk to you individually. IF YOU HAVE INTEREST, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP. I will be making a decision by the end of the week whether we have enough to go forward with a team or not.

Media Center
Bags will not be allowed to be stored in the Media Center during school for the next 2 weeks. If you need to store your bag somewhere, you can do so on the stage in room 111.
Varsity Showcase
Varsity players – if you are interested in participating in the 2015 Michigan High School Baseball Showcase held in Grosse Pointe, please see me ASAP. More information can be found at www.michiganbaseballshowcase.com. This is one of the very best showcase events in the state and I would encourage you to participate in it if you are interested in playing baseball in college.

TWILB – 4/6/2015

Players and Parents –

I hope that everyone had a nice Holiday weekend. A lot of good things took place last week for the baseball program and we are excited for our Varsity and JV teams to compete in the Macomb County Spring Break Tournament this week. Below is a recap of last week and a look into what’s coming up….
Last Week’s Games
Varsity
The Varsity team split their completed games last week, losing a close one to Utica Eisenhower 4-3 on Monday then coming back and winning in extra innings under the lights against Clawson on Wednesday night 6-3. The Varsity team is now 2-1.
JV
The JV team also split their games this past week, losing to Milford on Monday 14-7 then beating up on Warren Fitzgerald 16-1 on Wednesday at home. The JV team is now 1-2 overall.
Freshman
The 9th grade team won their only 2 games of the week on Monday 12-8 and 7-0 against Milford. We are looking into why Eisenhower was a no show on Friday and apologize for any inconvenience that this caused. The Freshman team is now 2-0.
This Week’s Games
Varsity
Monday 4/6 – vs Warren Mott 2:40 pm @ Warren Mott, vs Dakota 5:00 pm @ Warren Mott
Tuesday 4/7 – vs Richmond 3:30 pm @ Warren Mott
Wednesday 4/8 – vs Avondale 5:00 pm @ Warren Mott
Saturday 4/11 – TBD @ Kyte Monroe
JV
Tuesday 4/7 – vs Cousino 3:00 pm @ Kyte Monroe #2, vs Lake Shore 5:30 pm @ Kyte Monroe #2
Thursday 4/9 – vs GP North 12:30 pm @ Kyte Monroe B, vs Dakota 3:00 pm @ Kyte Monroe B
Saturday 4/11 – TBD @ Kyte Monroe
Spirit Wear
I would like to apologize that there has not been an opportunity to order any spirit wear yet this season. Our contact at Burke’s has been feverishly trying to get in touch with the representative from the company that sets up the site to order from and has been unsuccessful. We will be looking into different options this week and should have some information soon. In the meantime, I do have the “L” hats for sale – $20 each in the XS/SM and L/XL sizes. If there is enough interest in the M/L size, I will order more (it will take approx 4-6 weeks to get them in).
Sponsorships
We are still collecting corporate and fan sponsorships. I have attached the information flyer to this e-mail. The first set of signs for the field at Princeton will be ordered at the end of this week, so if there is a company who is willing to sponsor our season, please talk to them this week. Players – this is a good opportunity for you to go out while you are off school and get some money raised for the program (and you will get money back towards the uniform fee that you paid). I am looking for one parent to please take this form into Buffalo Wild Wings in SCS – they are expecting it. Please let me know ASAP if any of you are able to do this!

Team Pictures
Team pictures are scheduled for Monday, April 13th at 4:00 at Princeton. This is for all 3 teams. We will have forms available for the Varsity and JV teams this week and if any Freshman players are around, all of the coaches will have these starting tomorrow – be sure to ask for one. More information as far as what is expected for pictures will be texted out later in the week.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Have a great week!
